He also serves as the Director of the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation, an apostolate he founded in the Jubilee Year 2000, to provide a forum for Catholic theologians, philosophers, and natural scientists who reject the evolutionary hypothesis and who defend the traditional Catholic interpretation of Genesis 1-11.
After working for twenty years as a teacher and school administrator, Hugh began a career as a writer and editor for various Catholic organizations. During the past twenty years, he has written many books and articles on theological and other topics including New and Divine: The Holiness of the Third Christian Millennium, Thy Kingdom Come: The Life and Mission of Luisa Piccarreta; Orientale Lumen: Apostolic Letter on the Eastern Churches, a college credit course for the Catholic Distance University; various apologetics booklets, granted the imprimatur by Archbishop Cyril Bustros, Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Newton, for use in door to door evangelization; many of the lesson plans for the “Consecrated in Truth” catechetical series of the Apostolate for Family Consecration; and articles for the Sunday Bergen Record, Human Life International, Oriens, Latin Mass Magazine, Social Justice Review and Shostednev (A Russian journal on theology and natural science). For many years, Hugh also edited Cedars of Lebanon, a journal devoted to exploring the wonders of the interior life of Jesus and of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In addition to his work as a writer, editor and lecturer, Hugh has also served the Church as a lector, Eucharistic adorer, and director of religious education, and has been active in prison ministry and evangelization with the Legion of Mary. Hugh and his wife are active members of Holy Family in Exile and Holy Innocents Melkite Greek Catholic Chapel in Front Royal, Virginia.
